Ivy Point is an unincorporated community located in Johnson County, Tennessee. It’s a small town that has retained its small town charm and feel throughout the years. The town even has its own ghost story: the ghost of a woman who was raped and murdered there in the late 1800s.

The town was founded in 1879 as a railroad junction. It was named for the Ivy Point Plantation, which was the original land grant for the town. The plantation was owned by Benjamin Rice, who was the grandson of Benjamin Rice, the first planter in the area. The railroad was completed in 1876, and the railroad was used to transport workers to the area from all over the South. Due to the large number of workers who came to the area, the town grew and was incorporated in 1926. Ivy Point remained an important railroad junction until the mid-1950s.
